China Highlights Forest Success At COP22

Hosted by the China Green Carbon Foundation and partners, John-O Niles, Director of The Carbon Institute, facilitated a panel discussion on China’s forestry reform and innovation.  With the program being part of the Institute’s COP22 line-up of activities, many developing country participants attended and shared useful forestry experiences and ideas across regions.


Dr. Li Nuyun, CGCF Vice-president and Secretary-General, shared the target and actions of China is taking within its forestry progress to address climate change.  Other panelists included Dr. Grace Wong, CIFOR Chinese Officer; Mrs. He Qiaonv, Chairperson of Orient Landscape Co Ltd.; Mr. Louis Neves Silva, WWF Sweden Officer; Dr. Hans Friederich, INBAR Director General; Mr. Ji Jinghang Hang Zhou Low Carbon Science Technology; and Dr. Jian Taojie, Chief Executive Officer, Shanghai Andersen Paradise Co. Ltd.


Niles commented on the event, “This event was a great way to show China’s leadership on a huge range of environmental issues.” Further noting that, “It’s amazing to see everything that China is doing on climate, forests, and biodiversity.”
