Senior Advisor to the Ministery of Environment and Forestry on Climate Change and International Conventions; and the National Focal Point (NFP) of Indonesia for UNFCCC. Dr. Nur also serves as the Chairwoman of the Carbon Institute Council.


About Dr. Nur Masripatin

Dr. Nur Masripatin completed her term as the Director General of Climate Change (DGCC) of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in February 2018. During her tenure as the DGCC (2015-2018), she was also the National Focal Point for UNFCCC, IPCC, AATHP, and AWGCC. 

Before taken up the assignment as the DGCC she held multiple leadership roles, including as the Deputy for Governance and Institutional Relations of REDD+ Agency (BPREDD+) from 2014-2015, Director of R & D Centres at the Forestry Research and Development Agency (Biotechnology and Tree Improvement : 2002-2006; Plantation Forest : 2006-2007; Policy and Social Economy : 2009-2010), Secretary of FORDA (2007-2010), and Director of the Centre for Forest and Forest Product Standardization (2010-2014). She was also the National Coordinator for Asia-Pacific on Forest Genetic Conservation and Managmenet (APFORGEN) from 2003-2007), Coordinator of ASEAN Regional Knowledge Network on Forest and Climate Change (ARKN-FCC) from 2008-2014, the Coordinator of Safeguards Information System (SIS-REDD+) development in Indonesia (2011-2013), and the Lead Author of Indonesia REDD+ Readiness Strategy and the FCPF –REDD+ Readiness Plan (2007-2008).

Dr. Nur Masripatin has engaged in climate change negotiations and has been the REDD+ Lead Negotiator in UNFCCC meetings for many years. She has received Presidential Awards “Satya Lencana Wirakarya” in 2017 for long-term contribution on climate change area, inter-ministerial process for NDC preparation oversight, and the oversight of the development of National Registry System (SRN) for climate change actions (mitigation, adaptation, joint adaptation and mitigation) and supports/resources (finance, capacity building, technology). Another Presidential Award was also received in 2004 as “Pegawai Negeri Sipil (PNS) Teladan”, based on four following criteria: integrity, professionalism, leadership, and team work capacity and willingness.
